A Season of Change, Celebration and Community

Summer is often a time of change — a moment to reflect, say goodbye and welcome new beginnings.

This season, we wave a heartfelt goodbye to Alice after two years with Nightstop, and to Jo, who has given eight years of dedicated service. Their passion and commitment have made a lasting impact, and we wish them all the best for the future.

At the same time, we’re thrilled to welcome Alison to the team as our new full time Homelessness Prevention Coordinator. Her experience and energy will be a great asset as we continue our mission to prevent youth homelessness across Worcestershire.

As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, we’re incredibly grateful to the businesses that have already come on board to support our work. We’d love to connect with even more organisations that share our passion for positive change across Worcestershire — together, we can make a lasting difference.

We were proud to host the very first High Sheriff Forum under Ian Smith’s term in June — an important and powerful gathering focused on tackling misogyny. It brought together charities, organisations and community voices united in their drive for change. It’s a conversation we’re committed to continuing.

May brought a special moment of celebration, as I had the honour of attending a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace alongside our long-serving volunteer and former Chair, Denise Carson. It was a wonderful recognition of the dedication and spirit that define Nightstop — and a chance to reflect on the incredible work our volunteers do every day.

Finally, a huge thank you to our incredible volunteer hosts — the lifeblood of Nightstop. Your generosity and care make everything we do possible. If you, or someone you know, would like to join our team of hosts and make a real difference to a young person in crisis, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Wishing you all a safe and hopeful summer,

Celebrating 20 Years with the 20/20 Campaign Thank You for Standing with Us

We are proud to be celebrating 20 years of providing safe, emergency accommodation for young people in need. To mark this milestone, our special fundraising campaign, in partnership with Specsavers Manufacturing & Distribution, is engaging local businesses in our vision to end youth homelessness across Worcestershire.

As we mark our 20th anniversary, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to the incredible local businesses who have already joined our 20/20 campaign. Your support is helping us change lives — and we’re so proud to have you by our side.

The 20/20 campaign brings together 20 local businesses, each pledging to raise at least ÂŁ1,000 between April 2025 and April 2026 to support our vital work with young people experiencing homelessness.

Nightstop's Coralie visited Painters Law who launched their fundraising with a Book & Bake Sale at Wyre Forest House.

Each business leads its own fundraising efforts suited to their organisation and we’re here to provide support, encouragement, and resources along the way.

The campaign will culminate in a special awards ceremony before the end of the financial year, celebrating the incredible collective impact of everyone involved.

Service Update

This summer, our Service Delivery Team continues to actively support young people and families across the community—adapting to their diverse needs with care, energy and commitment.

Placement Nights & Crisis Support

This quarter, three young people continued their Nightstop journey from last year, each supported with successful move-on plans by April. Every young person who connects with our service is offered personalised crisis support to help them move forward with confidence and stability.

Referrals – Looking Ahead

We remain available and ready to respond whenever needed. We received an international enquiry from a young person in Australia, who will return to Kidderminster this summer—we're already preparing to support her transition. This shows how far our reputation for care and support reaches.

Homelessness Prevention in Schools

Our Homelessness Prevention Officers continue to connect with schools and colleges across the county. We reached 50 students through a college drop-in session, delivering key information and support to those who need it. We're excited to expand this work even further as exam season winds down and new opportunities open up.

Host Recruitment

We've been delighted to welcome two new hosts who have now completed their full training. One has already hosted a short stay placement, and the other is ready to welcome their first guest. We're continuing to promote our "Just for One Night" campaign, raising awareness and interest in this rewarding opportunity throughout the county.

Mediation Services

Our mediation work is thriving, with 34 young people currently supported across schools and wider community sessions. We’re strengthening partnerships with schools like Baxter High, Pershore, and Bewdley High, where we’re regularly supporting students with tailored sessions. A new collaboration with Worcester Sixth Form College saw bi-monthly mediation surgeries begin in June—an exciting step forward.

Just for One Night. Change a Life

Volunteer Host Recruitment Campaign

Could you help a young person in need just for one night?

Our hosts enable us to continue to offer safe emergency accommodation to vulnerable young people across the county.

They provide support for homeless young people in their own homes with a bed, a meal and a listening ear.

All you need is a spare room and a genuine desire to make a difference to someone's life.

We had a fantastic turnout for the first High Sheriff Forum during Ian Smith’s term, exploring the powerful theme:
'From Words to Wounds – The Impact of Misogyny on Our Communities.'

The forums are a great way to not only hear from speakers experienced in their fields, and also to meet representatives from other charities and organisations all working together to create positive change across Worcestershire.

If you are a local organisation or charity who would like to be added to our circulation list to receive info about future quarterly forums, please email: chudson@wfnightstop.org
